The Van Leeuwen lab is seeking a Research Associate to join our team at UMass Chan Medical School. We study how mutations interact to produce unexpected phenotypes, with a particular focus on suppression interactions — cases where the harmful effects of a primary mutation are rescued by a “suppressor” mutation elsewhere in the genome. For human disease genes, such suppressors can identify new targets for therapeutic intervention.

Our research involves high-throughput genetic screens, using robotics in yeast and CRISPR-Cas9 gRNA libraries in cultured human cells. The Research Associate will contribute directly to our research, help train other lab members, and provide general support to the lab.
