Location: NYC, NY (In-Office)
Reports To: Executive Producer
Employment Type: Full-Time

BACKGROUND

For 70 years, National Review has been a leader in the conservative movement and one of the most trusted media institutions in America. Founded in 1955 by William F. Buckley Jr., NR remains the nation's leading voice for rigorous reporting, sharp commentary, and a steadfast commitment to the principles of a free society. From print to digital, podcasts to live events, NR is expanding its multimedia presence to meet the moment—and to shape the national conversation with clarity, integrity, and intellectual depth.

POSITION OVERVIEW

National Review is seeking a versatile, editorially sharp Associate Producer to support the development and production of recorded op-eds, long-form interviews, panel discussions, and podcasts. This is a hybrid role that blends editorial research and creative ideation with production coordination (via Monday.com), asset sourcing, quality control, and distribution support. This is a full-time, in-office position based in New York City, NY.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct research and prepare briefing documents, question outlines, and background materials for interviews, panels, and commentary segments.
  • Coordinate production timelines and deliverables with video editors, studio technicians, and designers using Monday.com or similar workflow management tools.
  • Support guest and talent logistics, including scheduling, prep calls, and day-of coordination for in-studio and remote recordings.
  • Contribute to ideation and creative development for segments, including format ideas and visual concepts, and lead the triage of potential short-form clips and hooks in collaboration with the Long-Form and Short-Form Video Editors, editorial staff, and talent, with final approval by the Executive Producer.
  • Source and organize assets for production, including B-roll, images, archival footage, and reference materials.
  • Collaborate with video editors and graphic designers in the Marketing and Growth department on video packaging, including titles, thumbnails, lower-thirds, and end cards.
  • Perform quality control (QC) on finished videos, checking for editorial accuracy, technical quality, and brand consistency before distribution.
  • Support distribution by reviewing and organizing editor-drafted titles, descriptions, tags, and metadata for YouTube and other platforms. The Executive Producer retains final publishing and QC authority and may revise or override metadata as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Producer to refine formats, test new segment ideas, and maintain editorial standards across all outputs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2–4 years of professional experience in news, political media, podcast production, or digital video production.
  • Strong research and writing skills, with the ability to synthesize complex topics into clear briefing materials and segment outlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projects and stakeholders in a fast-paced editorial environment.
  • Familiarity with video and podcast production workflows, from pre-production through post-production and distribution.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with comfort working closely with editors, technical staff, and on-air talent.
  • Personal sense of humility, respect for others, and a commitment to continually learn and improve.
  • A belief in the principles of America's founding, including individual liberty, limited government, economic freedom, personal responsibility, and traditional values.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.

STANDOUT CANDIDATES MAY BRING:

  • Prior experience coordinating video or podcast production in a news or political media environment.
  • Familiarity with YouTube Studio, podcast platforms, and social distribution best practices.
  • Experience guiding creative teams on packaging, thumbnails, or visual branding for video content.
  • Interest in news, politics, or current events.
