About the Opportunity

Join us as a Disaster Preparedness VISTA Member and help strengthen community resilience across Michigan. In this role, you will support long-term capacity-building projects designed to improve planning, coordination, and outreach related to disaster readiness and emergency response.

This position is ideal for someone passionate about community safety, project development, and public service. Through your year of service, you’ll gain valuable skills while making a lasting impact.

What You’ll Do

As a Disaster Preparedness VISTA Member, you will help advance our mission by:

  • Developing and enhancing disaster preparedness plans, resources, and training materials.
  • Supporting community outreach to increase awareness and readiness for emergencies.
  • Researching best practices and helping implement sustainable preparedness strategies.
  • Strengthening partnerships with local agencies, nonprofits, and community groups.
  • Building systems to track program data, resources, and long-term partnerships.

Ideal Candidate

Eligibility

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident.
  • Must commit to a full year of service as a VISTA member.
