Supply Chain & Logistics Analytics Intern (Miamisburg, OH)

The goal of Billerud’s intern program is to cultivate the development of potential future engineering and leadership resources for our organization while providing high-quality process support to the mill’s operations group(s).   Co-op assignments are structured to provide candidates with opportunities to grow and develop in their chosen discipline as well as educate them on various career paths within the organization. Although there is no guarantee of future employment, our goal is to have our Co-ops fully capable of stepping into a full-time position within our organization by the end of the program.

 

Summary Description:

 

Provide support to the Supply Chain teams through hands-on operational work, data analysis, reporting, and project-based problem solving. This role blends traditional logistics responsibilities with analytics-driven project work aligned to Billerud’s Supply Chain & Business Analytics Summer Internship Program.

Interns will gain exposure to procurement, logistics/transportation, demand planning, inventory, fiber sourcing, and supply chain analytics while contributing to meaningful business improvements.

Qualifications

Key Accountabilities:

 

Operational Logistics Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily logistics communications, including contacting carriers, vendors, or internal teams to resolve scheduling needs or shipment issues
  • Support inventory audits, reconciliation, and documentation
  • Prepare logistics reports, transportation summaries, and shipment status updates
  • Maintain accurate records of inbound/outbound shipments, inventory movements, and system updates
  • Enter data related to shipments, inventory adjustments, and logistics transactions into ERP or logistics systems
  • Post and update logistics-related notices in production or warehouse areas
  • Assist with scheduling pickups, deliveries, and coordinating with warehouse or production teams

Analytics & Project-Based Responsibilities

  • Clean, model, and visualize operational data; build dashboards and reports (Power BI/Tableau)
  • Analyze freight lanes, forecasts, and inventory to recommend optimizations
  • Support structured analytics projects such as transportation optimization, inventory right‑sizing, demand forecasting, supplier performance, or sustainability analytics
  • Participate in rotational exposure across Procurement, Logistics, Planning, Inventory, and Fiber Sourcing
  • Prepare executive-level presentations summarizing insights, recommendations, and expected ROI
  • Document methods, data sources, and handoff plans for long-term ownership

Administrative & Cross-Functional Support

  • Assist with interview scheduling, packet preparation, or onboarding tasks for logistics-related hiring
  • Collect non-confidential supply chain data for monthly metrics and dashboards
  • Other duties as assigned

Personal qualities

Minimum Required Experience and Education:

  • 3 semesters of college completed and currently attending and/or enrolled for next semester
  • Working toward a degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, Business Analytics, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • Minimum 2.75 GPA

Required Skills:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent listener with strong attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • Ability and desire to learn and use new software (ERP, WMS, TMS, Power BI/Tableau, SQL)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent attendance and reliability
  • Ability to prioritize work and problem solve in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to communicate delays, issues, or constraints quickly and professionally
  • Must be legally authorized to work permanently in the United States for other than practical training (Student work VISA does not qualify).
