Marketing Intern

Marketing Intern

Reports to: VP of Marketing Location: Fully remote · Some overlap with Eastern business hours expected Type: Paid internship — $20/hr · Part-time, ~20 hrs/week to start · Strong potential to convert to full-time

About the role

Opus is behavioral health software. We unify EHR, CRM, and revenue cycle management into a single platform built specifically for addiction treatment, substance use disorder, and mental health providers — the treatment centers and group practices that most general-purpose medical software was never designed to serve. Our buyers are clinical directors, practice owners, and operations leaders at organizations that are trying to grow without drowning in documentation and claims.

We're a fully remote team, and marketing is small and high-output, which means an intern here isn't fetching coffee or updating one spreadsheet all summer. You'll work directly with the VP of Marketing and get your hands on nearly every channel we run: email, content, search, paid, and webinars.

If you want to understand how B2B SaaS marketing actually works — how a stranger becomes a lead, how a lead becomes pipeline, and how you measure whether any of it worked — this is a rare seat to do it from. You'll also learn to market in a regulated, high-stakes category, which is a genuinely differentiated skill early in a career. You'll leave with a portfolio of real work that shipped to real buyers.

What you'll work on

Demand generation and email

  • Help build and launch email nurture campaigns: writing drafts, building sequences, setting up segmentation and triggers
  • Write and iterate on landing page copy, then help set up A/B tests to see which version wins
  • Support our paid search agency on Google and LinkedIn campaigns: drafting ad copy variations for their review, pulling the performance numbers we report on internally, and making sure the pages our ads point to actually match the ad

Content and search

  • Write and edit content across formats: blog posts, case studies, one-pagers, social copy, and email
  • Work alongside our SEO agency: turning their keyword and content briefs into published pieces, implementing on-page recommendations, and tracking what moves after we ship
  • Help us build out GEO/AEO in-house — getting our brand cited and recommended inside AI search tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews. This is new territory for everyone, and you'll help us figure it out

Webinars and events

  • Support webinar production end to end: promotional emails, registration pages, speaker prep, day-of logistics, and post-event follow-up sequences
  • Repurpose recordings into clips, blog posts, and nurture content

Marketing operations

  • Keep our CRM and marketing automation data clean: list hygiene, lead routing, UTM discipline, form and field management
  • Help maintain dashboards and pull the weekly numbers so the team knows what's working
  • Document processes as you learn them, so the next person moves faster than you did

Working with AI We use AI tools throughout our workflow — research, first drafts, repurposing content, analyzing campaign data, and building small internal tools. You'll be expected to use them well and to know where they fall short. Strong judgment about when to trust an AI output and when to rewrite it from scratch is a skill we care about a lot.

Who we're looking for

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in marketing, business, communications, English, journalism, or something entirely unrelated that taught you to write and think clearly
  • Genuinely strong writer. You can explain a complicated idea in plain language, and you can hear the difference between copy that sounds human and copy that sounds like a brochure
  • Comfortable with numbers. You don't need to be an analyst, but you should be curious about what a conversion rate is telling you and willing to dig into a spreadsheet to find out
  • Organized and self-directed. We'll give you context and ownership, not a task list to check off
  • Able to work well remotely. That means writing clear updates, flagging blockers in Slack instead of sitting on them, and managing your own 20 hours without someone watching the clock
  • Curious about B2B specifically. Selling software to companies is a different game than selling sneakers to consumers, and the difference should interest you
  • Able to write for a clinical audience with care. Our market is addiction and mental health treatment, and our content needs to respect both the clinicians reading it and the patients they serve. Hype and stock-photo optimism don't land here
  • Asks questions early instead of quietly guessing for three days

Nice to have (not required)

  • Any hands-on experience with HubSpot, Marketo, Salesforce, Google Analytics, Google Ads, Ahrefs, Semrush, or similar
  • A blog, newsletter, portfolio, or side project we can look at
  • Basic HTML/CSS familiarity, or experience building pages in a CMS or website builder
  • Prior internship, campus club, or freelance work where you owned marketing output
  • Any exposure to healthcare, behavioral health, psychology, or public health, whether through coursework, a job, or personal interest

What you'll get

  • Direct mentorship from the VP of Marketing, including weekly 1:1s and real feedback on your work
  • Exposure to the full B2B marketing funnel rather than one narrow slice of it
  • Experience working with outside agencies, which is how most B2B marketing teams actually operate and something most interns never get to see
  • Real ownership of projects that ship, with your work in front of actual customers and prospects
  • A concrete portfolio and a reference from someone who watched you do the work
  • $20/hr, ~20 hours a week, with flexible scheduling around classes if you're still in school
  • Fully remote, so you can do this from wherever you already are

How to apply

Send your resume and a short note to lmischel@opusbehavioral.com. No cover letter required, but in your note, tell us about one piece of B2B marketing you've seen recently that you thought was excellent, and why. It can be an email, an ad, a landing page, a piece of content, or anything else. We read every one of these.

Opus is an equal opportunity employer. We're committed to building a team with a range of backgrounds and perspectives, and we encourage you to apply even if you don't check every box above.
