The Human Resources Intern will support the HR team at a manufacturing site while partnering closely with operations leadership and team members. This role provides hands-on exposure to a broad range of HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, engagement, compliance, training, benefits coordination, and HR analytics.

 

The ideal candidate is action-oriented, organized, analytical, and interested in building a career in Human Resources within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

 

We are looking for an individual who can work up to 20 hours per week during the school year and up to 40 hours per week during school break.

 

Your Main Responsibilities:

 

  • Support the recruitment process by assisting with job requisitions, applicant screening, interview coordination and candidate communication through the onboarding process.
  • Support HR operations through employee record management, PeopleSoft audits, compliance documentation, reporting, and other administrative activities.
  • Support engagement action planning by gathering feedback, tracking action items, and assisting with team member communication.
  • Participate in HR projects related to retention, workforce planning, process improvement, or employee development
  • Partner with HR and operations leadership to support timely and professional resolution of employee relations matters.
  • Assist with documentation and follow-up related to employee concerns through the process of management by walking around, participate in employee investigations, and gain exposure to handling workplace issues.
  • Help coordinate HR training activities.
  • Assist with annual benefits enrollment, team member engagement activities, recognition events, and community service initiatives.
  • Build effective working relationships with team members, managers, and cross-functional partners across the manufacturing site.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive employee and business information.

 

We are looking for talent with:

 

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or a related field.
  • Prior HR experience through internships, co-ops, entry-level roles, academic projects, or related work experience preferred.
  • Prior leadership experience through professional, academic, volunteer, or extracurricular activities preferred.
  • Exposure to manufacturing environments and/or familiarity with union or labor relations is beneficial.
  • General knowledge of Human Resources functions, employment practices, or business operations.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships with employees and leaders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and technology skills.
  • Demonstrated initiative, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment.

Preferred Skills and Competencies

  • Interest in manufacturing operations and site-based HR support.
  • Comfort working directly with operations leaders and production team members.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
  • Curiosity and ability to use data to support decision-making.
