Forward Deployed Engineering Intern

Forward Deployed Engineering Intern

About the Role

We’re looking for a Forward Deployed Engineering Intern to help build and deploy AI-powered solutions for real business problems at Envoy.

This role sits between engineering, data, AI, and business teams. You’ll work directly with stakeholders to understand their problems, identify where AI or automation can help, and build working solutions that people can actually use.

This is a hands-on role. You won’t just work from a predefined list of tickets. You’ll be expected to understand the problem, figure out the right technical approach, build it, test it with users, and iterate based on feedback.

What You’ll Work On

Build AI-powered tools and internal applications for teams across Envoy.

Work directly with stakeholders to understand workflows, pain points, and requirements.

Build integrations across APIs, internal systems, data sources, and LLMs.

Prototype solutions quickly and turn successful prototypes into reliable tools.

Work with LLMs, agents, MCPs, APIs, and automation frameworks.

Use SQL and Python to access, transform, and validate data when needed.

Evaluate AI outputs and build guardrails, testing, and validation around them.

Demo your work, gather feedback, and continuously improve what you build.

What We’re Looking For

Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

Strong programming fundamentals, especially in Python.

Comfortable working with APIs, databases, and SQL.

Experience building with LLMs or AI tools through projects, coursework, hackathons, or previous internships.

Ability to take an unclear problem and break it down into something you can build.

Comfortable talking directly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Curious, independent, and willing to learn unfamiliar systems quickly.

Nice to Have

Experience building AI agents or applications using LLM APIs.

Experience with MCP, tool calling, RAG, or agentic workflows.

Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS.

Experience building internal tools, web applications, or automations.

Experience working with production data systems or analytics infrastructure.

What Success Looks Like

By the end of the internship, you should have shipped solutions that are being used by real teams at Envoy.

We care less about how much code you write and more about whether you can understand a problem, build the right solution, and create measurable value for the people using it.
