Social Media & Content Marketing Intern
Social Media & Content Marketing Intern — New York Therapy About Us
New York Therapy is a psychotherapy practice in Manhattan. Our clients include Olympic athletes, executives at Google and McKinsey, and leaders at the United Nations. Our founder is writing a book on relational mastery and our team includes a Harvard-trained psychiatrist. We're opening new offices on Fifth Avenue and in the Library District near Bryant Park — and we need someone to build our social media presence from the ground up.
The Role
We don't have a social media presence yet. We need someone to build it. The work involves taking real ideas about relationships, psychology, and human development and figuring out how to communicate them well on Instagram and YouTube. You'll have creative ownership and close collaboration with our team — creating high-quality content consistently, discovering what works, and getting better at it over time.
Responsibilities
- Create visual content (Instagram carousels, quote graphics, story templates) using Canva or similar tools
- Write and adapt social media copy for Instagram, LinkedIn, and Google Business Profile — maintaining a sophisticated, non-marketing voice
- Manage and maintain a content calendar across all platforms
- Schedule and publish posts
- Monitor and respond to comments and direct messages
- Track analytics (engagement, reach, follower growth) and prepare monthly reports
- Coordinate with the practice founder to ensure all content is clinically appropriate and on-brand
- Research trends, hashtags, and best practices in mental health / wellness content
- Light local SEO maintenance: spot-check directory listings for accuracy, submit to new directories as needed, draft weekly Google Business Profile posts
What We're Looking For
- Strong visual design sense — you know what looks good on Instagram
- Excellent writing — clear, human, not corporate or "marketingese"
- Familiarity with Instagram and YouTube
- Eagerness to learn and apply AI tools in work contexts
- Interest in psychology, mental health, or wellness (you don't need to be a psych major, but genuine interest matters)
- Self-directed — you can manage a posting calendar without being reminded
- Prior experience with social media or content management (preferred)
Details
- Part-time, remote (must be available during EST business hours for coordination)
- Duration: Three months with potential to extend
- Start date: Flexible
