Social Media Intern
Social Media Intern, The Sickest Podcast
Hybrid (Dallas, TX) · 10 to 15 hours per week · Paid stipend · Fall 2026, option to extend
ABOUT THE SHOW
The Sickest Podcast is a Dallas studio show with one premise: people who weren't supposed to win, and exactly how they did it. The host is Paden Sickles, an Army veteran and the founder of SickFit, a performance compression sock brand. Guests are pro athletes, actors, musicians, front-office executives, and founders. Every episode ends with a Hot Wheels car chosen specifically for that guest, and their reaction closes the show.
Season 1 is recording now. Episodes drop every Tuesday. We are building the audience from the ground up, which means the person who joins now shapes what @thesickestpod becomes.
THE JOB
You will run the day-to-day of our Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube pages and help grow them. This is not a "schedule three posts and log off" internship. You will be in the comments, in the trends, and in the studio.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Community and engagement
- Reply to comments and DMs on every post, in the show's voice, within 24 hours
- Engage with our guests' pages, their fans, and accounts in the sports, entertainment, and founder worlds so the show shows up where they already are
- Flag comments worth turning into content, and anything that needs the host or producer to see it
Content and carousels
- Design Instagram carousels for each episode: guest story cards, quote cards, "the moment" breakdowns, and the Hot Wheels reveal
- Cut and caption short clips from edited episodes for TikTok, Reels, and Shorts
- Write captions and on-screen text that sound like a person, not a brand
- Keep the weekly content spine on schedule: Tuesday full episode, Thursday Hot Wheels close, Sunday deepest moment
Trends and research
- Track trending sounds, formats, and hooks on TikTok and Reels each week and bring two or three we should actually use
- Study how comparable shows and creators (sports podcasts, interview shows, athlete pages) are getting reach, and report what is working
- Pull weekly numbers (views, saves, shares, follower growth, best-performing posts) into a simple report and say what we should change
Record days and guests
- Be in the studio on recording days: shoot behind-the-scenes and Stories content, capture the guest's arrival and the Hot Wheels moment, take the Polaroid for the guest book
- Prep everything a guest needs to reshare us: tagged posts, clips sized for their pages, correct handles, sent the day the episode drops
- Keep guest social handles and post status current in the production tracker
Growth
- Own the follower growth and engagement targets with the producer, and test ideas to hit them
- Help build the ManyChat DM automation for comment keywords and episode links
WHO THIS IS FOR
- You already make content. You have a page, a client, a club, a team, or a personal account where you have posted consistently and can show what happened
- You can build a clean carousel in Canva (or similar) and cut a vertical clip with captions in CapCut (or similar) without a tutorial
- You know what is trending on TikTok and Reels this week, not last month
- You write in a natural voice. No buzzwords, no hype, no corporate filler
- You are comfortable around high-profile guests: professional, calm, not starstruck, and you know when to put the phone down
- You can be in Dallas for recording days and get to the studio (5400 LBJ Fwy, Suite 800; parking is validated)
- You care about sports, entertainment, or founder stories. Ideally more than one
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience running a page for an organization (student org, team, small business, creator)
- Basic photography or video shooting on a phone
- Familiarity with YouTube Shorts and podcast platforms
- Design sense: you notice fonts, spacing, and color, and it bothers you when they are wrong
WHAT YOU GET
- A paid stipend for the semester
- Real ownership of a growing brand's social presence, with your work published under the show's name
- Direct time with the host and executive producer, not a layer of managers
- In-studio access on recording days with athletes, entertainers, and executives
- A portfolio of published carousels, clips, and growth numbers you can show anyone
- Academic credit if your program allows it; we will complete the paperwork
- SickFit product
LOGISTICS
- 10 to 15 hours per week, scheduled around your classes
- Hybrid: remote most days, in studio on recording days (typically weekday mornings, about twice a month) and occasional shoots
- Fall 2026 through mid-December, with the option to extend into spring
- Reports to the Executive Producer, with direct access to the host
HOW TO APPLY
Upload your resume, plus a one-page PDF with your answers to these three questions and links to your work. Keep it short. We read every one.
1. Link us to 2 or 3 pieces of social content you made (carousel, clip, post, page). For each, tell us what it was for and what happened after you posted it.
2. Pick one guest you think we should have on the show, and write the Instagram caption for their episode drop. 60 words max.
3. What is one trending sound or format on TikTok or Reels right now that you would use for a sports or interview show, and why?
Follow @thesickestpod before you apply. You will understand the show faster than any description can explain it.
3. Application Questions
These three questions do the work of a cover letter and a first interview. Each one tests something specific. Use this page when you read the answers.
Links to 2 or 3 pieces of content you made, and what happened after
Whether they have actually done the job, and whether they think in outcomes
Real links that load. Specific results (saves, shares, follower jumps, a client reaction). Honest about what did not work. Design that does not look like a default template.
Write the drop caption for a guest you would book
Voice, taste in guests, and whether they get the premise
A guest who fits "wasn't supposed to win." A caption that leads with the story, not the credits. No buzzwords, no "excited to announce." Under 60 words as asked.
One trending sound or format and why it fits the show
Whether they are actually on the platforms this week, and whether they can apply a trend instead of just spotting it
Something current, with a reason tied to the show (the Hot Wheels reveal, the question card, the guest reaction). Bonus if they note when it will be played out.
