PAY RANGE: $19.00 - $23.00 / Hour
Internship Position for Summer 2027
Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (Other hours as required)

As an intern, you'll have real responsibilities, and you'll work on productive assignments with actual business interactions. We also provide a number of intern events throughout the summer to burn some extra energy, including volunteer events, power plant tours, lunch and learns, and more.
Intern Description:
In the course of this internship, the applicant will support the Web and Email Marketing team, and report to the Marketing Communications Manager. The intern will gain hands-on experience across website, direct mail and email communications, developing a greater understanding and application of audience segmentation, marketing operations, content development, and analytics. This internship will foster collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders to execute campaigns, provide reporting and recommendations, and contribute to ongoing improvements across marketing communication channels.
Job tasks include but not limited to:
- Assist in the development of high-impact digital campaigns across owned marketing channels
- Cross-team collaboration to support business goals
- Provide support for ongoing technology upgrade projects
- Develop content that supports marketing goals
- Analyze performance data and optimize customer experiences
- Understand UX/UI principles for web and email from a user and customer perspective
Education and Experience Requirements:
Candidates must currently be enrolled in a university program and in good academic standing in one of the following or related fields: Marketing, Journalism, Communications, Media Studies or similar.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:
- Must be dependable, self-motivated and detail-oriented, with excellent organizational and proofreading skills.
- Must possess the ability to work and communicate independently and effectively with personnel within and outside of the Marketing department.
- Must be able to identify priorities and operate efficiently and effectively in an office environment.
- Must possess a basic understanding of Microsoft Office, including but not limited to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Experience in a CMS, data analysis platform and/or email delivery platform preferred but not required.
Working Conditions:
This internship will take place largely at Evergy’s downtown Kansas City office at 1200 Main Street. This work is primarily performed in a professional office setting and involves prolonged periods of sitting, computer use, virtual and in-person meetings, and frequent one-on-one and team interactions with colleagues and stakeholders.
