Research Associate

Job Type: Full-Time or Part-Time      Location: Billerica, MA

At Momentum, we are rapidly scaling our business and service offerings and are seeking an A.S. or B.S. level associate to contribute meaningful RapidFire-MS data to client discovery projects. This is an entry-level opportunity, well suited to current students or recent graduates in biology, chemistry, or another life sciences field. The research associate will be responsible for maintaining the lab, preparing and analyzing samples by RF-MS or LC-TOFMS and supporting the scientific team. The research associate will work closely with our Principal and Senior Scientists to support various customer projects and internal company initiatives. This role is based at Momentum’s headquarters in Billerica, Massachusetts, and both full-time and part-time schedules are available — we’re happy to work around class schedules.

Main Responsibilities

• Operate RapidFire or Liquid Chromatography instrumentation interfaced to QQQ or TOF mass spectrometers  
• Prepare buffers and maintain inventory
• Track samples using our LIMS system to maintain data integrity
• Prepare samples consistently for analysis
• Understand client goals and project specifications to deliver timely and top-quality results
• Assist in storage unit maintenance

Key Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or associate degree in biology, chemistry, or other life sciences field. Relevant industry lab experience with pipetting skills is a plus
• Excellent organizational and communication skills with Microsoft Office
• Ability to work effectively and independently in an interdisciplinary, team-oriented, collaborative, and high-performance environment
• Eagerness to learn new software, hardware, and scientific methods as needed to contribute top-quality data to client discovery projects
