Communications Intern

CROSSROADS FELLOWSHIP Communications Intern Position

 

JOB DESCRIPTION (20hrs/week)

The Communications Intern will work alongside the Communications Director and Graphic Designer. The 

Communications Intern will assist with all print and digital communication, gaining experience in church communication, digital marketing, graphic design, and print production. The Communications intern is a vital role that offers the opportunity to (1) provide critical administrative support, and leadership support, to the Communications department, and (2) to provide significant opportunity for the intern to gain valuable ministry experience. This will include experience in managing multiple priorities as it relates to supporting the ministries of the church with branding, marketing and design that effectively communicates the vision and mission of Crossroads Fellowship. 

 

EXPECTATIONS

The internship position will function to aid the individual in personal challenge, and growth, in the following area:

  • CHRIST – Show evidence of Christ at work in your life and display a willingness to talk about it.
  • CHARACTER – carry out tasks, and pursue goals, with a high character that is modeled after that of Jesus Christ.
  • CHEMISTRY – Demonstrate authenticity, be full of grace and truth, and be able to bond with the current team. 
  • COMPETENCY – Must be able to connect relationally with the team, CRF staff, and CRF attenders. Will need to have strong communication skills and follow-through on assignments, as well as being a fast learner. Will need to develop proficiency to lead volunteers when empowered to do so.
  • CAPACITY – prioritize work time to focus on ministry tasks/goals during a 20hrs/week role.

 

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completed a minimum of 1 year of college towards a bachelor’s degree in Communications, Graphic Design, Marketing, or a related field
  • Strong communication and proofreading skills, creative, detail-oriented, and eager to learn
  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator
  • Willingness to work with of people develop relationships across ministry departments, and logistically support the Communications team
  • Experience in creating, and leading, a team of volunteers is preferred
  • Bonus: Photography skills

 

The intern will report to the College Ministry Pastor / Internship Director, Mark Stroupe, but will primarily work with the Communication Director at Crossroads Fellowship. During work hours, the intern will be expected to be on arrive on time and be a team player. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY PROJECTS

  • Website updates/editing
  • Creating social media content (i.e., reels, carousel posts, events, etc.)
  • Copywriting for emails and social media
  • Graphic design assistance for various ministry projects

 

INTERNSHIP WORKFLOW - 20hrs/week

WEEKDAYS (M/W/Th, approx. 9am – 2pm) – 15 hours

  • Arrive at designated time
  • Check in with Mark Stroupe 
  • Check with Communication director, or team lead, for task or project updates // Continue work for ongoing assignments
  • Attend Communication Team meetings

 

WEEKDAY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Progression and completion of Key Goals and Key Projects as assigned by Communication Director, or other team lead

 

SUNDAYS (8am – 1pm) – 5 hours

  • Arrive on site by 8am, unless otherwise directed by Communication Director, or team lead
  • Check in with Communications Director, or other team lead, for any changes to assignments.
  • Execute all tasks that are assigned

 

MONTHLY MTGS WITH INTERNSHIP DIRECTOR (Mark Stroupe, Internship Director)

  • 1 mtg to for brief check in
  • 1 mtg to join with other interns in the CRF Internship Program for encouragement, review of what is being learned, and how it all relates to the reality of ministry
