IT AI Intern

Ascend is seeking a highly motivated, entrepreneurial, and technically curious IT AI Intern to join their AI Agent Factory Program team in Gonzalez, FL. This is a hands-on development internship focused on rapidly building, deploying, and improving enterprise AI solutions that solve real business problems—delivering measurable impact through speed of learning, speed of execution, and business value. You will collaborate directly with business and IT stakeholders to create AI-powered capabilities that improve productivity, automate manual processes, enhance decision-making, and accelerate digital transformation using Microsoft’s AI ecosystem (e.g., Copilot and Azure-based tools).

Job Responsibilities:

  • AI Agent Development: Design, develop, test, and deploy enterprise AI solutions, including:
    • AI Assistants to answer questions, retrieve enterprise knowledge, support productivity, provide insights, and integrate with Microsoft Teams and Microsoft 365 apps.
    • AI Delegates to perform tasks on behalf of users, draft communications and documents, create reports/summaries, execute workflow activities, and coordinate across systems.
    • Autopilot Agents to monitor processes, detect exceptions/risks, recommend actions, trigger automated workflows, and improve via feedback and analytics.
  • Business Process Automation: Build AI-enabled solutions for functions such as IT, Finance, Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Operations, HR, and other corporate teams.
  • Rapid Prototyping & Innovation: Translate requirements into working solutions quickly; build proof-of-concepts and MVPs; demo to stakeholders; incorporate feedback and iterate rapidly; evaluate emerging Microsoft AI technologies.
  • Integration & Engineering: Develop integrations and workflows using tools/technologies such as Python, JavaScript, REST APIs, Microsoft Graph, Azure services, Power Platform, SharePoint, Teams, and SAP/other enterprise systems.
  • Responsible AI & Security: Follow cybersecurity and data protection standards; apply Responsible AI principles; support governance, testing, and quality assurance; deliver secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions.


Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related technical discipline.
  • Strong interest in Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies.
  • Experience with at least one programming language (e.g., Python, JavaScript, C#, or Java).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Preferred: Coursework or experience in Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering, AI agents, Copilot technologies, Azure Machine Learning, cloud computing, or data analytics.
  • Preferred (plus): Exposure to tools such as Copilot Studio, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Search, Power Platform (Power Automate/Power Apps), Microsoft Fabric, Semantic Kernel, or LangChain.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Pay Rate: Starting wage of $24/hour
  • Schedule: 20 hours a week; flexible scheduling between 8am-5pm.
