About Société Apothecary

Société Apothecary is a small-batch herbal apothecary and teaching studio in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. We make teas, tinctures, essential oil blends, and flower essences, and we teach the traditions behind them — Ayurveda, aromatherapy, Reiki, herbal medicine — through workshops and certification programs.

The Role

We're looking for a marketing intern to help us grow across social, email, and campaign strategy. You'll work directly with the founder, contribute to a real content calendar, and see your work published within days rather than months.

Most of the work can be done remotely, with time in the Portsmouth shop for content shoots, product photography, and workshop days.

This is a good fit for a student who wants portfolio pieces and measurable results by December — not a semester of shadowing.

What You'll Do

Social Media — Instagram, Facebook & TikTok

  • Track trending audio, formats, and hashtags across all three platforms and flag what's worth adapting for a wellness brand (and what isn't)
  • Draft and schedule 3–5 posts per week against our four content pillars: sleep, inflammation, stress/anxiety, and seasonal
  • Shoot and edit short-form video — Reels and TikToks covering product pairings, DIY make-alongs, ingredient education, and behind-the-scenes studio content
  • Build and maintain a monthly content calendar, batching series content so we're not scrambling
  • Respond to comments and DMs in brand voice; help grow engaged community rather than empty follower counts
  • Run Stories tests on new formats before anything earns a spot on the grid

Email Marketing

  • Draft campaign and newsletter copy in Klaviyo — product launches, workshop announcements, seasonal sends
  • Help build and refine automated flows: welcome series, abandoned cart, post-purchase, win-back
  • Manage list segmentation and audience tagging so the right people get the right message
  • Write and run A/B tests on subject lines, send times, and CTAs
  • Report on open rate, click rate, and revenue per send, with recommendations for what to change next

Marketing Initiatives & Metrics

  • Support seasonal campaign planning from concept through launch — fall immunity, holiday gift-making, workshop enrollment
  • Review monthly performance dashboard - Facebook and Instagram Insights, TikTok Analytics, Klaviyo, Google Analytics, and our Website
  • Track what actually moves the needle: engagement rate, reach, list growth, conversion, and revenue attribution by channel
  • Research competitors and adjacent brands; brief us on positioning gaps and opportunities
  • Present findings and recommendations in a short monthly review with the founder

What We're Looking For

Required

  • Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student in Marketing, Communications, Business, Journalism, or a related field
  • Fluent and genuinely curious about Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook — you notice trends before they peak
  • Strong writing skills with a good ear for voice and tone
  • Comfortable with basic video editing (CapCut, Reels editor, Premiere, or similar)
  • Organized, self-directed, and able to hit deadlines with light supervision
  • Comfortable working with numbers and drawing conclusions from them
  • Able to get to Portsmouth, NH occasionally for content shoots and workshop days
  • Ability to use Claude and ChatGPT for content automation

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Klaviyo, Mailchimp, or a comparable email platform
  • Canva familiarity
  • Coursework or hands-on experience in analytics — Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite
  • Prior social media management for a brand, club, or organization
  • Genuine interest in herbalism, wellness, or natural products (not required, but it helps)

What You'll Take Away

  • A real portfolio — published campaigns, content you shot and wrote, and dashboards you built
  • Hands-on experience with Klaviyo, Shopify, Meta Business Suite, and TikTok Creator tools
  • Direct mentorship from the founder, with weekly 1:1s
  • A letter of recommendation and a reference for students who do strong work

How to Apply

Apply through Handshake by September 5, 2026 with your resume and a brief note (a few sentences is plenty) telling us:

  1. A brand you think does social media well, and why
  2. One piece of content you'd make for Société Apothecary

Links to social accounts you've managed, content you've created, or writing samples are welcome — no formal portfolio required.

Société Apothecary is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds, and we're happy to work with your school's internship requirements and credit paperwork.
