Medical Technologist

POSITION SUMMARY

Position Summary:

The medical technologist performs a variety of laboratory tests, procedures and related duties, in order to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease, by following established standards and practices. The medical technologist is responsible for the orderly processing of patient specimens during the assigned work shift. This includes specimen collection, testing, processing, and reporting of accurate results. Includes issue resolution in the pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical phases. The technologist maintains active communication and strengthens collaborative relationships among the medical staff, nursing personnel, and other lab staff.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Education

Bachelors degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology or related field

Minimum Experience

Required clinical internship in a MT/MLS approved program

Registered or registry eligible MT/MLT approved program

Required Registration/License/Certification

MT(ASCP) OR MLS(ASCP)
