Medical Billing Specialist
Position Summary
This position is responsible for completing revenue cycle activities.
Expected compensation between $21.99 - $26.39/hour. Compensation will be determined based on relevant experience and skills.
Patient Services (50%)
- Insurance eligibility and benefits verification, update insurance as needed in systems
- Registration quality audits
- Front desk insurance training
- Coverage Patient Services Coordinator role during PTO, vacancies, and high-volume periods
Business Office (50%)
- Monitoring and track front-end denials related to registration/eligibility
- Coverage Business Office Representative during PTO, vacancies, and high-volume periods (Payment and charge posting, Work Task follow up)
Task between both areas
- Financial clearance ability to add/removed holds
- Maintain payer reference guides and workflows
Other Essential Functions
- Must present self at the workstation, ready for work, at the scheduled time
- Create an exceptional patient experience
- Communicate effectively with supervisor, manager, and/or director
- Participate in department and company meetings, as requested
- Work as a team with other departments
- Liaison between provider credentialing service and clinic
- Must be willing and able to work a variety of hours and work in the various locations as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education & Licensing
- High School Diploma, or equivalent, required
Experience
- Health care industry experience required
- NextGen experience preferred
Skills & Knowledge
- Knowledge of CPT and ICD10 coding, health insurance (HMO, PPO, Commercial, Gov’t programs, Medicare, etc.), medical billing and claim follow up procedures
