Key Holder
The Key Holder supports Garden Shop operations by providing excellent customer service, leading assigned shifts, and helping maintain a welcoming and efficient retail environment. Serves as manager-on-duty when the Garden Shop Manager is unavailable.
Responsibilities
- Open and close the store and complete security and cash handling procedures.
- Lead and support staff and volunteers during assigned shifts.
- Coordinate volunteer coverage.
- Provide exceptional customer service and assist with purchases and questions.
- Handle customer concerns and escalate when needed.
- Operate POS systems, complete cash counts, and prepare deposits.
- Stock merchandise and maintain displays, inventory, and store appearance.
- Assist with receiving, pricing, and organizing merchandise.
- Promote Garden memberships, programs, events, and retail offerings.
- Follow safety, security, and loss prevention procedures.
- Report safety, maintenance, and security concerns.
- Assist with training and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of retail, hospitality, museum, or customer service experience required.
- Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Cash handling and POS experience.
- Strong customer service, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
- Interest in gardening, plants, nature, or botanical education preferred.
- Availability for evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events, including GardenFest.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, lift up to 30 pounds, and frequently bend, reach, and use ladders.
