Position Overview

Dr. Stephen Oreski & Associates is seeking a motivated, organized, and detail-oriented Healthcare Administration Intern interested in gaining practical experience in the operations and management of an outpatient behavioral healthcare practice.

This paid, 10-week internship provides exposure to many of the administrative systems that support effective healthcare delivery, including patient access, scheduling, billing workflows, insurance processes, human resources, compliance, quality improvement, technology, and general practice operations.

The intern will work with administrative and clinical leadership on projects designed to improve efficiency, organization, service quality, and the overall patient experience.

The internship combines structured learning with hands-on projects and culminates in a final practice-operations improvement presentation.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with day-to-day administrative and practice-management projects.
  • Learn and support patient intake, scheduling, referral, and communication workflows.
  • Assist with reviewing and improving administrative procedures.
  • Help analyze office workflows and identify opportunities for improved efficiency.
  • Support projects related to patient experience and quality improvement.
  • Assist with tracking administrative performance measures and operational data.
  • Help develop spreadsheets, reports, dashboards, and other management tools.
  • Gain exposure to behavioral healthcare billing and insurance processes.
  • Assist with projects involving accounts receivable, billing follow-up, and administrative workflow analysis as appropriate.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and employee administrative processes.
  • Assist with maintaining and organizing policies, procedures, forms, and internal resources.
  • Participate in projects related to healthcare compliance, HIPAA, documentation, and risk-management procedures.
  • Conduct research on healthcare administration trends, regulations, technology, and best practices.
  • Assist leadership with special projects related to practice operations and growth.
  • Participate in administrative meetings and observe organizational decision-making.
