Social Media Intern

Social Media Marketing Intern

Organization: Girls Spark
Location: Remote
Reports To: Marketing Board Chair
Time Commitment: 10–15 hours per week (Flexible)

Position Overview

Girls Spark is seeking a creative, organized, and enthusiastic Social Media Marketing Intern to help grow our online presence, engage our community, and share the stories that inspire our mission. This is an excellent opportunity for a student or emerging marketing professional looking to gain real-world experience in marketing, social media strategy, content creation, and brand management.

The ideal candidate is passionate about social media, enjoys creating engaging content, and wants to make a meaningful impact in the community.

Responsibilities

Social Media Management

  • Assist in creating and scheduling content across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other platforms. 
  • Write engaging captions aligned with the Girls Spark brand voice. 
  • Monitor comments and messages and elevate questions when necessary. 
  • Stay current on social media trends and recommend new content ideas. 

Content Creation

  • Create graphics, Reels, Stories, and short-form videos using Canva and other creative tools. 
  • Help maintain a consistent visual brand across all platforms. 
  • Assist in developing educational, inspirational, and promotional content. 

Marketing Support

  • Assist with campaign planning for fundraising events, workshops, and community initiatives. 
  • Help promote volunteer opportunities, sponsorships, and special events. 
  • Research hashtags, trends, and audience engagement opportunities. 
  • Track basic social media analytics and provide monthly performance summaries. 

Community Engagement

  • Help grow Girls Spark's online community through thoughtful engagement. 
  • Identify partnership and cross-promotion opportunities with local businesses and community organizations. 
  • Encourage user-generated content and supporter engagement. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current college student or recent graduate in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Graphic Design, Journalism, or a related field. 
  • Strong communication skills. 
  • Time management skills, reliability and flexibility.
  • Familiarity with Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok. 
  • Experience with Canva (ChatGPT, Claude, Ai is a plus). 
  • Comfortable filming and editing short-form video content. 
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and dependable. 
  • Passion for empowering girls and supporting nonprofit organizations. 
  • Photography or videography experience is a bonus.
