Position: Business Development Intern
Location: Washington, D.C. / New York Metro Area (Hybrid / Local Event Travel)
Type: Internship (Part-Time with the potential for Full-Time)
Role Summary
We are seeking a proactive, goal-oriented Business Development Intern to join our growing tech team. In this role, you will play a hands-on part in driving pipeline growth by identifying prospective market opportunities, conducting targeted outreach, and representing AreaProbe at industry events.
This internship offers direct exposure to commercial real estate, proptech solutions, alongside experienced industry leaders.
Key Responsibilities
1. Client Profiling & Market Research
Target Audience Mapping: Research and identify prospective client profiles across core verticals (e.g., housing, hospitality, commercial retail, healthcare, city agencies).
Lead Qualification: Gather intelligence on potential clients—mapping decision-makers, company portfolios, and ongoing initiatives.
Database Management: Maintain and update clean, actionable data within the CRM to support sales workflows.
2. Email Outreach & Campaign Management
Craft Tailored Messaging: Draft personalized, high-converting cold and warm email sequences highlighting AreaProbe’s tech services and data tools.
Sequence Tracking: Execute and monitor outbound email campaigns, analyzing open and response rates to optimize messaging strategies.
Follow-up Execution: Consistently follow up with prospects to schedule introductory discovery calls for senior executives.
3. Phone Outreach & Discovery
Cold & Warm Calling: Conduct outbound introductory phone calls to qualify prospective leads and evaluate their advisory or data needs.
Meeting Booking: Convert prospect interest into scheduled meetings for the business development team.
4. Event Representation & Networking
Attend Local Industry Events: Represent AreaProbe at local real estate networking events, economic development sessions, and proptech meetups.
On-Site Networking: Engage with industry professionals, gather contacts, and generate on-the-ground sales leads.
Post-Event Strategy: Document event leads and execute prompt post-event follow-up campaigns.
Qualifications & Skills
Education: Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable pitching over the phone and engaging in face-to-face networking.
Tech-Savvy: Familiarity with LinkedIn, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, CRM software, and Google Workspace / Microsoft Office suite.
Industry Interest: Strong interest in real estate, sales, tech, business management, and/or economic development.
Attributes: Self-starter, organized, persuasive, and resilient when conducting outbound sales outreach.
