PCORI Fall Internship - Communications

Position Summary

The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) is offering a fall internship to a qualified candidate who will support our Communications Department. This paid internship is a part-time, temporary employment opportunity averaging 20 hours per week. PCORI does not provide housing for out-of-town residents. All applicants must be eligible to work in the US and located in the US. Interested parties should be pursuing their undergraduate degree in communications, journalism, media relations, or public relations.

 

Pay Range and Employment Status:

Interns shall be classified as temporary employees who are hired as interim replacements, to temporarily supplement the workforce, or to assist in the completion of a specific project and who are temporarily scheduled to work for a limited duration. Employment beyond any initially stated period does not in any way imply a change in employment status. Temporary workers are not eligible for PCORI benefits. Current undergraduate level students will be paid $18.50 an hour.

 

Project Description:

The Media Relations Intern, reporting to the Senior Manager of Media Relations, will assist in communications guidance development for the C1 26 funding award announcements, media list development and management for the awards and pitch drafting. The intern also will help with clips monitoring and development of monthly coverage reports as well as research in emerging/non-traditional media and media monitoring tools.

Milestones and Goals:

  • Drafted communications and media guidance for C1 26 awards. 
  • Successfully updated media lists, to include a general PCORI list and targeted subject lists based on areas of C1 26 awards, and emerging media.
  • Memo with several draft pitches based on upcoming awards. 
  • Memo with updates on media monitoring tools, comparing capabilities and pricing.
