HR Internship - Westlake, Ohio

Achievement Centers for Children is seeking motivated undergraduate and graduate students interested in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Public Administration, Organizational Leadership, or related fields to participate in our 6-week Human Resources Operations & Compliance Internship Program.

This internship offers hands-on experience supporting critical Human Resources initiatives while contributing to a mission-driven nonprofit organization serving children and adults with disabilities throughout Northeast Ohio.

This is not a shadowing opportunity—you'll work on meaningful projects that strengthen HR operations, improve compliance, and support the employee experience.

Primary Internship Focus

The primary focus of this internship is supporting the Human Resources department's personnel records modernization and compliance initiatives, including the organization, review, digitization, and auditing of employee personnel files.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organize and prepare employee personnel files for electronic conversion.
  • Audit personnel files for completeness and compliance with organizational standards.
  • Identify missing employment documentation and assist with file reconciliation.
  • Support HR records management and document retention initiatives.
  • Assist with HR compliance reviews and internal audits.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of employee information.
  • Assist with HR process improvement projects.
  • Support additional Human Resources initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, Healthcare Administration, Organizational Leadership, Legal Studies, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Interest in a career in Human Resources or Human Resources Operations.

Internship Details

Duration: 6 Weeks

Schedule: Flexible based on academic schedule (approximately 10–20 hours per week)

Location: Achievement Centers for Children – Westlake, Ohio

Compensation: $500 stipend awarded upon successful completion of the internship.
