Account Executive
Account Executive
Sell something a teacher would thank you for.
Mission.io makes Missions: teacher-led, whole-class simulations where students use what they're learning to solve a real problem together. The classroom becomes a spaceship. Thirty kids on their feet, talking each other through how to save the ship, their teacher at the helm. It's the coolest thing most of your buyers will have ever seen, and your job is to put it in front of them.
We've spent almost a decade making the product great, proving the concept, and growing on organic sales. Over a million students, 1,000+ schools, research funding from the National Science Foundation and the U.S. Department of Education. Now it's time to pour the jet fuel in, and we're hiring an Account Executive to help us do it. In person at our HQ in Provo, Utah.
The honest part, before anything else
Education sales is a long game with a lot of unglamorous middle. You'll send outreach that gets ignored. You'll work to reach principals and district leaders who are busy protecting their time from people exactly like you. Deals move through school budget cycles and can take months, and you're joining early enough that you won't inherit a finished machine. You'll be building the sales system alongside the founders, which is equal parts thrilling and grinding. We'd rather tell you all of this now than surprise you in month three.
If that paragraph made you less interested, good, this saved us both time. If it made you more interested, keep reading.
What you'll actually do
- Own school and district deals end to end: prospect, demo, close, hand off to customer success, and stay close. You earn commission on your renewals.
- Prospect relentlessly. Cold calls, cold emails, conferences, and new ideas we haven't tried yet for reaching principals, STEM directors, and assistant superintendents.
- Run the playbook we've built, then make it better. Your input shapes how we sell. This is a build-the-engine seat, not a run-the-script seat.
- Sit with the founders while the product gets built ten feet away, and be part of the growth strategy in the room where it's decided.
What we're looking for
Experience is a plus. The person is the point. We can teach the sales craft; we can't teach these:
- Hungry, coachable, and a little relentless. You set goals, you hit them, and you keep the pipeline moving without anyone standing over you.
- A strong communicator, in writing and out loud. You'll be demoing to rooms of educators and writing emails that have to earn a reply.
- Patient with long sales cycles and quick to learn from every no.
- A believer. You get why this matters for kids and you can't wait to show people.
Minimum requirements
- Able to work in person at our Provo, UT office most days of the week
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Comfortable with a role that is mostly outreach, conversations, and follow-through
- Sales experience helps (a year or two, any industry) but is not required
What you get
- Competitive base plus generous uncapped commission. Sell more, make more. No cap, no games. Health benefits if you want them.
- A front-row seat to how a company gets built, and a real path into leadership as we grow. Get in early, grow with it.
- Work you can be authentically proud of: demos that end with a room of teachers cheering. Your customers are some of the best people in the world, and they'll become people you know by name for years.
- A team people rave about. We still fly Missions together at HQ, and Friday has a weekly Show & Tell.
One more thing worth knowing: we don't open roles often. We'd rather invest in the people already here, so when a new seat opens, it's because we mean it. This is one of those times. Two seats, if you have a friend.
When you apply, include a short note along with your résumé: who you are, what excites you about this job, and what excites you in regular life. Show us your personality. Then you'll meet the founders and the team, ask the tough questions, and decide if you want to become a hero among mortals.
