Microbiology Intern
Kioga is seeking a microbiology intern to support our microbial strain discovery platform. This hands-on laboratory role will focus on isolating and characterizing novel environmental bacteria with potential applications in human health and nutrition.
Responsibilities
- Isolate, culture, and characterize bacterial strains from environmental samples
- Perform routine microbiology workflows using sterile technique
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and strain inventories
- Follow established protocols and help draft or improve SOPs
- Support basic phenotypic testing and sample preparation for downstream analysis
Qualifications
- Senior undergraduate or recent graduate in microbiology, biology, biotechnology, or a related field
- Hands-on experience with aseptic technique and microbial culture
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and laboratory documentation
- Comfortable working independently after training and following defined procedures
