ThinkTank Studio Intern
About the Role
City Innovations is a venture studio working with founders and companies to build, launch, and grow new ideas.
Through our ThinkTank studio, we record podcasts and conversations with founders, operators, and leaders—then turn those into content that gets distributed across channels.
We’re looking for an intern to help run that studio.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll operate real equipment, run real sessions, and produce content that actually gets used—not practice projects.
What You’ll Do
• Run podcast recording sessions in the ThinkTank studio (audio, video, lighting)
• Set up and operate cameras, microphones, and production equipment
• Edit full podcast episodes (video + audio)
• Create short-form clips for LinkedIn, YouTube Shorts, and other platforms
• Manage and organize media files and production workflow
• Help us continuously improve the quality and consistency of our studio output
What You’ll Be Part Of
You won’t just be “editing videos.”
You’ll be part of:
• Conversations with founders and business leaders
• Content that supports real companies and real growth efforts
• A studio environment focused on clarity, ideas, and execution
What We’re Looking For
• Currently studying (or recently studied) videography, film, media production, or similar
• Comfortable with cameras, audio, and basic production equipment
• Experience with editing tools (Premiere Pro, Final Cut, or similar)
• Interest in podcasting, content creation, and storytelling
• Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to take ownership of work
• Someone who wants to build a strong portfolio of real-world work
Nice to Have (Not Required)
• Multi-camera production experience
• Audio editing / mixing
• Social-first editing (short-form clips, pacing, captions)
• Motion graphics or basic animation
Details
Location: Grand Rapids, MI (in-studio at ThinkTank)
Schedule: part-time
Compensation: Paid internship (hourly, based on experience)
Why This Role is Different
Most internships have you assist.
This one has you produce.
You’ll leave with:
• Published podcast episodes
• A portfolio of real client content
• Experience running a studio, not just observing one
How to Apply
Send:
• A short note on why you’re interested
• Links to any video or content work (school, freelance, or personal)
We care far more about what you’ve made than your resume.
