Position Summary
Habitat for Humanity of Williamson County is seeking a dependable, people-oriented intern to provide direct support to our volunteer program. Working under the Marketing & Development Coordinator, this role serves as the key on-the-ground presence for volunteers — helping things run smoothly at build sites, keeping records up to date, and occasionally supporting community engagement events.
How This Role Works
Day-to-day tasks are assigned and guided by the Marketing & Development Coordinator. This is not a project-based role — you will have consistent responsibilities, most of which take place at the build site or in support of field operations.
Core Responsibility Areas
1. On-Site Volunteer Support
• Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteers at the build site
• Coordinate and pick up volunteer lunches and ensure meals are ready on-site
• Conduct outreach to local restaurants and businesses to secure lunch sponsors for volunteer build days
• Assist volunteers with questions, directions, waivers, and anything they need throughout the day
• Ensure all volunteers have signed required liability waivers before beginning work
• Provide on-site orientation and support to individual and group volunteers
• Coordinate with construction staff regarding daily volunteer schedules and site needs
2. Volunteer Coordination & Records
• Respond to volunteer inquiries under the direction of the Marketing & Development Coordinator
• Assist with scheduling and placing volunteers in appropriate roles
• Maintain accurate volunteer records in CharityProud, including hours, contact information, and group affiliations
• Track daily volunteer attendance and assist in generating participation reports
• Draft thank-you communications and recognition materials for volunteers
3. Outreach & Event Assistance
• Support outreach to churches, schools, civic organizations, and service clubs as directed
• Assist with groundbreaking, wall raising, and home dedication ceremonies
• Attend community engagement events on an occasional basis to represent Habitat and support volunteer recruitment
• Coordinate with the Marketing Intern and Community Engagement Coordinator on volunteer-related communications and event promotion as needed
What You Will Gain:
• Direct, hands-on experience in volunteer coordination and nonprofit operations
• Proficiency with tools including CharityProud, MailChimp, Microsoft Suite and Google Workspace
• Experience working with diverse volunteers and community groups in a field setting
• A strong professional reference and meaningful contribution to Habitat’s mission
Preferred Qualifications:
• Currently enrolled in Nonprofit Management, Social Work, Communications, Public Administration, or a related field
• Strong interpersonal skills and a friendly, professional demeanor with volunteers and community members
• Organized, dependable, and comfortable taking initiative in a field environment
• Genuine interest in community service, volunteerism, and affordable housing
• Basic experience with data entry or database tools a plus
• Reliable transportation required; must be able to run local errands (e.g., picking up lunches) and travel to build sites
• Availability on Tuesday and Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings for build days and office hours required
How to Apply:
Please submit your resume, a cover letter explaining your interest in Habitat’s mission and working with volunteers. It is also optional to submit a portfolio, or examples of relevant work.
Equal Opportunity Statement: Habitat for Humanity of Williamson County is an equal opportunity organization and welcomes applicants of all backgrounds.
