Marketing & Communications Assistant

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Marketing & Communications Assistant supports the organization's marketing, communications, social media, donor management, and event activities. This position assists with promoting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Deep East Texas through digital and print communications while supporting fundraising, donor engagement, and community outreach efforts. This position is ideal for a college student seeking hands-on experience in marketing, communications, event planning, and nonprofit operations.

 

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):

Marketing & Communications

1. Create flyers, posters, invitations, and promotional materials using Canva and other design software.

2. Create, schedule, and manage social media content, including Facebook and other digital platforms.

3. Assist with creating videos, graphics, photography, and other digital marketing content.

4. Promote Club programs, special events, fundraising campaigns, and community activities.

5. Order and coordinate marketing and promotional materials as needed.

Donor & Database Support

6. Enter and update donor information in MyClubHub and other donor management systems.

7. Maintain accurate donor and contact records.

8. Assist with donor communications, acknowledgments, and stewardship efforts.

9. Ensure donor information is entered accurately and maintained in a timely manner.

Event Support

10. Assist with planning and organizing fundraising events and community activities.

11. Help with event setup, registration, guest check-in, and event breakdown.

12. Attend events to support staff, volunteers, and community partners.

13. Capture photos and videos for marketing and promotional purposes.

14. Assist with distributing promotional materials and engaging with attendees.

Administrative Support

15. Assist with board communications and meeting materials.

16. Organize marketing files, photographs, and digital assets.

17. Complete other marketing and administrative projects as assigned.

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Assist with special events and fundraising activities.

· Maintain marketing inventory and promotional supplies.

· Support community outreach and partnership initiatives.

· Perform additional duties as assigned.

 

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

To perform this position successfully, the individual should demonstrate the following:

▪ Basic graphic design and content creation skills.

▪ Basic video editing and photography skills preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma/GED or working on completion of school; or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense; understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Current Driver’s License and BGCA.NET.
