Ceded Reinsurance Analyst

Under the direction of the Reinsurance Services Unit Manager, this role is responsible for the day-to-day management of data, cash application, analysis of reinsurance financials, payment reconciliations, assistance with asset management and internal audits. Additional responsibilities include information and data set up and correction, system management and maintenance, as well as other data-related services.

 

Complex/Senior Role (4 - 7+ years’ experience)

  • Administers reinsurance contracts, maintaining accurate data, and supporting internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Works cross-functional with team to ensure timely and accurate processing of reinsurance transactions and contributes to process improvements and compliance efforts.
  • Ensures compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Assists the Ceded Reinsurance Department when financial anomalies occur, including but not limited to cash application assistance, billing discrepancies, schemes and liquidations and account reconciliation.
  • Processes commutations, innovations, consolidations, acquisitions, schemes and liquidations and migrations as needed
  • Trains and creates protocols in relation to ceded operations.
  • Responsible for providing data for the Monthly Close process and escalating any financial anomalies.
  • Manages and provides solutions to collateral collections in relation to penalty resolution.
  • Expert in Reinsurer maintenance, working alongside Fairfax on changes and provisions
  • Relied on to resolve complex cash application
  • Partner with various project management teams throughout the company to serve as the subject matter expert to organize, prioritize, implement and support all projects related to Ceded Reinsurance
  • Provide oversight of the Ceded Reinsurance monthly close process to ensure timing and accuracy.

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of complex reinsurance structures and system maintenance
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Advanced analytical, research, and Excel skills.
  • Technical knowledge in data querying languages such as T-SQL, and ability to execute basic level data queries.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and mentor others.
  • Excellent communication and leadership capabilities.

Analyst I/II Role (0-4 years’ experience)

  •  Maintains the day-to-day functions of cash application 
  • Assists with administrative functions and department wide projects.  
  • Relied on to apply ceded reinsurance funds to open recoverable balances including complex items. 
  • Manages collateral procurement and system updates 
  • Researches and relied on to provide reinsurer updates 
  • Assists with the administration of reinsurance contracts, maintaining accurate data, and supporting internal and external reporting requirements. 
  • Aids cross-functional teams to ensure timely and accurate processing of reinsurance transactions and contributes to process improvements and compliance efforts. 
  • Help to ensure compliance with internal controls, audit requirements, and regulatory standards. 
  • Escalates financial anomalies that include but aren’t limited to cash application, billing discrepancies and account reconciliation. 
  • Assists with training and creating protocols in relation to ceded operations. 
  • Assists in providing data for the Monthly Close process and escalating any financial anomalies.

    Required Skills 
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.  
  • Technical competence in Microsoft Office (especially Excel including V-lookup, pivots and macros) 
  • Effective verbal and written communication. 
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing priorities. 
  • Ability to interpret reinsurance contract

Experience

  • 0–7 years of experience in Reinsurance related insurance operations

Required Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree
