About the Role
Former Congressman Adam Kinzinger is seeking a Research & Copywriting Intern to support the production of his daily news show, The Kinzinger Report. You'll work directly on a high-profile political publication covering breaking news. This is a morning production shift: the 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM window is live, deadline-driven work getting each day's show out the door, not flexible hours.
Responsibilities
- Research breaking news stories, policy developments, and historical context for daily show segments
- Draft, edit, and proofread copy for show scripts, headlines, and subject lines
- Fact-check claims, verify sources, and gather supporting links and citations
- Monitor news cycles, social media, and Congressional activity to flag stories worth covering
- Help shape narrative throughlines and editorial framing across multiple stories
Qualifications
- Excellent writing, editing, and research skills, with attention to grammar and accuracy
- Strong news judgment and a working knowledge of U.S. politics and current events
- Ability to synthesize complex stories into clear, accessible copy
- Comfort working under tight, news-driven deadlines
- Detail-oriented, self-directed, and reliable in a remote setting
- Must be available daily from 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM ET
