MARINE OFFICER JUDGE ADVOCATE PROGRAMS - Career Opportunities
I am Captain Trudi Townley, the Marine Corps Officer Selection Officer in Fairfax, VA. I run the Marine Officer Programs in DC and the Virginia area. Our office coordinates a program called the Platoon Leaders Class (PLC) for current and future law school students. Below is some basic information about the program.
Platoon Leader's Class:
This program is designed to help decide if the Marine Corps is the right route for you after finishing your degree with no obligation to serve, and leadership experience to gain. If selected to attend and successfully complete OCS (Officer Candidate School), this results in an offer to commission as a Marine Second Lieutenant, with the ability to decline and pursue other options. Training is conducted in one ten-week session aboard Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia. This training is designed to develop mental and physical abilities while testing leadership potential. Newly commissioned officers will be given positions providing them with immediate and substantial leadership training and courtroom experience.
Additional Details:
* PAID - Candidates are paid over $7000 for ten weeks of training, plus room and board throughout training
* PAID - Once you complete one session of the summer training, you can receive up to $15,000 per year in tuition assistance
* NOT ROTC – Does not interfere with academic or athletic pursuits
Benefits and Opportunities as a Marine Corps Officer:
-Full medical and dental coverage
-30 days paid vacation each year with discounted travel and recreation
