Widner Juran LLP is a Centennial-based law firm devoted exclusively to serving Colorado local
governments, special districts, and quasi-governmental entities. Since 2004, our attorneys have
advised cities, towns, districts, and other public clients on the legal issues that shape everyday
community life.
We are seeking an Associate Attorney with 0–5 years of experience to join our municipal and local
government practice. This is an opportunity for an attorney who wants meaningful responsibility
early in their career, direct client interaction, mentorship, practical experience, and work that
affects Colorado communities in real time. The position offers flexibility for remote work a few days
per week, with in-o􀆯ice, client meeting, public meeting, and court appearances as needed.
What Is Municipal Law?
Municipal law is the practice of helping local governments make good decisions, solve problems,
and serve their communities effectively. It is broad, practical, and varied, touching issues such as
public meetings, ordinances, contracts, land use, open records, ethics, code enforcement, public
safety, and day-to-day government operations.
Unlike practice areas where attorneys are often brought in after a dispute has escalated, municipal
attorneys are frequently involved on the front end. They help clients evaluate options, understand
legal risks, draft policies and agreements, and make decisions before problems become lawsuits.
For attorneys who enjoy being part of a team, working with decision-makers, and helping clients
build practical solutions, municipal law can be a rewarding and sustainable practice area.
About the Role
The associate will work with experienced municipal attorneys in a collaborative, mentorship-driven
environment. The position includes a mix of advisory, transactional, legislative, governance, code
enforcement, and municipal court-related work.
Responsibilities may include:
 Legal research and drafting memoranda, ordinances, resolutions, agreements, and other
public-sector documents
 Advising municipal clients on legal issues affecting local government operations
 Attending and supporting public meetings, including city council, town board, and district
meetings
 Working with municipal staff on code enforcement, nuisance, abatement, and community impact
issues
 Assisting with municipal court matters involving local ordinance violations
 Supporting clients in public-safety, compliance, governance, and operational matters
 Working directly with municipal staff, elected officials, law enforcement, code enforcement
personnel, and other public-sector professionals
Who We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate is curious, practical, and interested in public service. Prior municipal law
experience is not required. We are looking for someone who enjoys learning new areas of law,
working as part of a team, and helping clients think through issues before they become problems.
Qualifications:
 0–5 years of legal experience
 Interest in municipal law, local government, public service, or community-focused legal
work
 Licensed in Colorado or pending admission to the Colorado Bar
 Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills
 Sound judgment, professionalism, and attention to detail
 Ability to work collaboratively with attorneys, clients, sta􀆯, and public o􀆯icials
Compensation & Benefits:
 Salary: $80,000–$110,000, depending on qualifications, for a full-time position
