District Technician
General Statement of Duties
This position is responsible for performing a variety of technical duties related to the planning
and implementation of land and water conservation practices on both public and private
properties. The employee in this class works as part of an interdisciplinary team and
collaborates closely with farmers, contractors, municipal officials and private landowners to
implement environmental conservation programs and projects.
Work is performed under the general supervision of the District Field Manager of the Chenango
County Soil and Water Conservation District. This position does not include supervisory
responsibilities.
The title of District Technician is Competitive, requiring the applicant to meet minimum
qualifications established for the position and successfully meet civil service examination
requirements. Permanent appointment will be dependent upon participation in the
examination and being available from the resulting eligibility list
