Law Firm Bookkeeper

We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Law Firm Bookkeeper to join our dynamic legal team. In this vital role, you will manage the firm’s financial records, ensure accurate bookkeeping, and support overall financial health. Your expertise will help maintain compliance with accounting standards and provide transparent financial reporting that empowers decision-making. Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update the firm’s general ledger using accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, Sage, or similar systems.
  • Process accounts payable and receivable transactions accurately and efficiently.
  • Reconcile bank statements, credit card accounts, and client trust accounts regularly to ensure data integrity.
  • Prepare detailed journal entries, including debits & credits, for various financial activities.
  • Manage payroll processing in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and account analysis to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
  • Generate comprehensive financial reports, including profit & loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow summaries for internal review and compliance purposes.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role within a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Strong proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks (including QuickBooks Online), Xero, Sage, or Quicken.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and governmental accounting standards if applicable.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform account reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and general ledger accounting accurately.
  • Knowledge of payroll processing, tax experience, and accounts payable/receivable management.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills; proficiency in 10-key typing is preferred.
  • Ability to interpret financial concepts and prepare clear financial reports; experience with budget management is a plus.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with attorneys, staff, clients, and external vendors.
