Our portfolio companies are often founder-led or searcher-led businesses where interns can have real impact. This is not a “sit in the corner and observe” internship. We are looking for people who want to help build companies.
About the Role
TBD Investors is seeking a Marketing Intern to support social media, marketing, growth, and brand-building initiatives across our portfolio companies.
This role is ideal for a student who is creative, organized, curious, and comfortable creating content for social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and other relevant channels. The intern will help portfolio companies improve how they communicate with customers, patients, partners, recruits, and local communities.
A major focus of the role will be helping portfolio companies build a stronger digital presence through thoughtful, consistent, and practical social media content. Depending on the needs of the portfolio company, projects may include social media planning, content creation, short-form video ideas, LinkedIn posts, local marketing campaigns, digital campaigns, market research, competitor analysis, customer experience, recruiting marketing, and basic performance reporting.
Responsibilities
The Marketing Intern may support projects such as:
Creating and improving social media content for portfolio companies
Drafting LinkedIn posts, Instagram captions, Facebook updates, and other social media copy
Helping develop simple social media calendars and content plans
Identifying content ideas from company milestones, customer stories, community events, hiring needs, and local market activity
Supporting short-form video ideas, basic reels, and other lightweight content formats
Helping portfolio companies improve consistency and quality across social media channels
Reviewing competitor and local-market social media activity to identify practical ideas
Helping draft website copy, newsletters, blog posts, and recruiting materials
Supporting local marketing campaigns for new or existing locations
Conducting market and competitor research
Helping improve Google Business Profiles, online listings, and review-generation efforts
Assisting with email campaigns, outreach sequences, and customer communications
Tracking simple marketing and social media metrics and preparing short performance updates
Supporting employer branding and recruiting marketing for growing companies
Helping portfolio company leaders test new ideas quickly and learn what works
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who is:
A strong writer and clear communicator
Creative, practical, and willing to take initiative
Comfortable using social media and interested in what makes content perform
Able to turn business updates, customer stories, and operating wins into clear social media content
Comfortable working in fast-moving, entrepreneurial environments
Interested in marketing, growth, business building, healthcare, private equity, or entrepreneurship
Organized and able to manage multiple small projects at once
Comfortable with basic tools such as LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Canva, Google Docs, Excel/Sheets, PowerPoint, and AI writing tools
Willing to learn quickly and improve based on feedback
Prior marketing or social media experience is helpful but not required. We care more about judgment, work ethic, curiosity, creativity, and the ability to get things done.
