Marva Diaz Strategies is a California-based public affairs, fundraising, and strategic communications firm seeking a highly organized, proactive Communications Coordinator to manage the firm's communications, marketing, and production efforts across a diverse portfolio of public affairs, legislative, nonprofit, advocacy, political, and fundraising clients.
This position serves as the firm's primary communications professional, managing client communications, digital outreach, production schedules, marketing initiatives, and campaign communications while ensuring projects move efficiently from concept to completion.

Office Hours: Downtown Sacramento, California. This is primarily an in-office position, with work in the downtown Sacramento office Monday through Thursday and remote work available most Fridays.
Compensation commensurate with experience. Starting pay is $22–$25 per hour during the probationary training period, with compensation reviewed upon successful completion of probation.
COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR: Essential Responsibilities
Communications & Marketing
- Coordinate and manage communications production, including newsletters, e-blasts, websites, digital advertising, social media, and printed materials.
- Manage all Constant Contact accounts, including list maintenance, scheduling, subscriber management, bounce reports, and analytics.
- Analyze email performance, including open rates and click-through rates, and recommend improvements.
- Maintain the firm's communications and marketing calendar.
- Develop outreach materials including flyers, invitations, newsletters, promotional pieces, and campaign communications.
- Manage social media content and promotional materials for California Target Book and other firm initiatives.
- Maintain client and firm websites with current and accurate information.
Campaign & Client Communications
- Coordinate communications and production for candidate, ballot measure, nonprofit, legislative, advocacy, and fundraising clients.
- Manage production schedules for direct mail, digital advertising, endorsement announcements, fundraising emails, and campaign communications.
- Coordinate with printers, designers, digital vendors, and consultants to ensure timely delivery of communications materials.
- Staff campaign events, meetings, and outreach activities as assigned.
Project Management
- Manage multiple communications projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Track production timelines and communications deliverables.
- Coordinate with staff, consultants, and vendors to ensure projects remain on schedule.
- Assist in developing systems and workflows that improve efficiency and consistency.
- Collaborate with leadership on implementing AI tools and communication systems that improve productivity.
Content Development & Quality Control
- Draft, edit, and proofread newsletters, proposals, correspondence, promotional materials, presentations, questionnaires, and other communications.
- Ensure all communications are accurate, professionally written, and consistent with client branding.
- Coordinate internal review and approval processes before materials are released.
Client Relations
- Build strong working relationships with clients, elected officials, nonprofit leaders, community organizations, consultants, and vendors.
- Assist with client meetings, presentations, community outreach, and special events.
- Communicate professionally with stakeholders while representing the firm.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Political Science, Public Policy, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Exceptional proofreading and editing abilities.
- Working knowledge of Canva and the ability to create professional communications materials.
- Experience managing multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
Preferred but Not Required Qualifications
- Experience with Constant Contact, Microsoft Office, Asana, SurveyMonkey, and project management systems.
- Experience working in public affairs, government, political campaigns, nonprofits, advocacy organizations, or fundraising.
- Knowledge of California government and the legislative process.
- Experience managing campaign communications, digital outreach, and stakeholder engagement.
- Familiarity with AI productivity tools and communications technology.
