The Mike Loya Center for Innovation and Commerce (MLCIC), in partnership with Texas Internship Initiative, is happy to announce entrepreneurship-focused internships. These seasonal internships are designed to develop the essential skills, assets, and training needed to expand students' entrepreneurial knowledge and better prepare them to enter the workforce. Through these practical experiences, students will learn about entrepreneurship, develop highly coveted skills employers seek in new college graduates, and gain real-world experience all while earning a livable wage of $20/hr. Target Cohort: Final-year undergraduate seniors and final-year graduate students enrolled full-time at The University of Texas at El Paso.
Field of Study: Must be pursuing a degree directly related to the specific internship role.
Eligibility: Must possess valid U.S. work authorization (excludes F-1 Visa status).

Role Summary
The Program Assistant Intern supports Pioneers 21 programs that provide mentorship, training, and venture support to early-stage entrepreneurs. The intern works directly with founders, mentors, and internal teams to execute programs, support venture progress, and improve operational systems. This role offers hands-on exposure to startup ecosystems, venture development, and innovation operations.
Key Responsibilities
· Support active ventures by assisting with research, documentation, and execution tasks
· Coordinate and prepare materials for venture mentoring sessions and founder meetings
· Track venture progress, milestones, and outcomes across programs
· Assist with pitch preparation, business model refinement, and market research
· Support delivery of entrepreneur training, workshops, and resources
· Contribute to projects involving AI tools, digital enablement, and process improvement
· Assist with partnership outreach, ecosystem engagement, and event coordination
· Maintain internal documentation, databases, and operational workflows
Qualifications
· Current undergraduate or graduate student, or recent graduate
· Interest in entrepreneurship, startups, innovation, or economic development
· Strong organizational, research, and communication skills
· Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
· Comfort working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
· Experience with spreadsheets, presentations, and digital collaboration tools
Preferred Qualifications
· Coursework or experience in business, technology, design, or related fields
· Familiarity with startups, venture capital, or small business development
· Experience using AI tools, CRM systems, or project management platforms
