Communications/Marketing/Data Analytics Intern

The IT Department at Fulton County Government is seeking a motivated intern with a background in Communications, Marketing, or Data Analytics to support internal and external engagement initiatives. This role offers a unique opportunity to apply communications, marketing, and data analysis skills in a technology environment while gaining experience with organizational communications and customer engagement strategies.

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Draft content for newsletters, intranet posts, presentations, and digital platforms.
  • Assist in the design and development of promotional materials (flyers, graphics, videos) to highlight IT programs and services.
  • Support the planning and execution of IT events, trainings, and town halls.
  • Contribute to branding campaigns that increase visibility of IT’s value and impact.
  • Collect success stories, staff spotlights, and project highlights to be shared with stakeholders.
  • Provide communications support for organizational change management and new technology rollouts.
  • Track communication metrics and prepare reports to support data-driven decisions.
  • Analyze engagement metrics and create dashboards to measure communication effectiveness.
  • Assist with developing reports and dashboards to communicate key performance metrics and support data-driven decision-making.

 

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the internship, the student will be able to:

  • Apply communications, marketing, and data analysis strategies within a professional IT setting.
  • Develop messaging tailored to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Gain practical experience in event promotion and stakeholder engagement.
  • Enhance technical skills using design and communications platforms (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite, MS Office, intranet tools, Power BI).
  • Understand how communications and data analysis supports IT service delivery, customer satisfaction, and organizational change.
  • Build a professional portfolio with samples of newsletters, campaign materials, event promotions, dashboards, and reports.

 

Preferred Skills/Qualifications

  • Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Data Analytics or related major.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling ability.
  • Familiarity with design and data tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, Power BI, Tableau or similar).
  • Interest in technology, digital communications, and organizational branding.
