ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION
The Atlanta Film Festival (ATLFF), presented by the Atlanta Film Society (ATLFS), is one of the largest and longest-running preeminent celebrations of cinema in the Southeast United States featuring 150 events in 10 days. Approximately 27,000 festival attendees enjoy independent, animated, documentary, and short films each year, selected from over 5,000 submissions from 120 countries. In 2016, ATLFS was named “Best Nonprofit in Atlanta” by Creative Loafing readers and ATLFF was named “Best Spring Festival in Atlanta” by Atlanta Journal-Constitution readers. In addition, ATLFS schedules year-round events to keep cinema in the forefront and the art & culture community talking.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Atlanta Film Society is seeking a design-oriented Communications Coordinator to support the organization's marketing goals through content creation, digital media support, and community engagement. This position will assist the ATLFS/S marketing department in reaching new audiences, executing its communication plan, and maintaining its administrative duties.
The ideal candidate for this role is highly organized, an efficient self-starter with an eye for design. Strong communication skills and problem-solving are essential to collaborate with the ATLFS/F team. Our preferred candidate must be proactive and able to independently manage detail-oriented tasks within deadlines.
The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining our digital presence via social media, website updates, implementing SEO best practices, and creating trendy editorial content to further the personalization of our brand. Additionally, this role is responsible for market research to identify trends, audience perspectives, and internal best practices. Furthermore, the Communications Coordinator will support our yearly fundraising goals and annual capstone and the Atlanta Film Festival by creating rapid-response content (graphics and video) and coordinating media volunteers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Graphic Design: Co-create brand materials with the Marketing Director for use across print, merchandise, and digital channels

Content Creation
- Create graphics for socials, newsletter, website, and registration pages
- Produce viral-worthy short-form video content
- Generate copy for newsletter, blog posts, & press releases

Community Engagement + CRM
- Connect with our audience using the ATLFS/F brand voice & narrative across communication channels
- Answer DMs, marketing & press inquiries, and contact form
- Engage local and relevant community partners and news outlets to promote ATLFS/F events and offerings

Front End Website Management
- Adding events to the calendar
- Resolving errors + making updates
- Implementing SEO best practices
- Paid Advertising: Manages paid digital ads via Meta, TikTok, and Google Ads

Campaign Strategy, Planning, & Reporting
- Develop and execute a strategy for the organization's communications across channels
- Report on and quantify campaign performance

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
$35,000/year
3% employer-match to IRA plan (after 6 months with the company)

This is a full-time position with a flexible hybrid work schedule. This position requires an Atlanta-based candidate.
