Junior Photographer Videographer
Role Objective
The Junior Photographer / Videographer is responsible for assistance in technical execution of visual content at Blacklight. This role focuses on capturing and editing high-quality photo and video assets for social media, advertising campaigns, and full-scale production shoots, working under the direct guidance of the Production Manager.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Content Capture & Production
- Execute high-quality photography and videography for a diverse client roster, ranging from commercial advertising to social-first content.
- Operate mirrorless camera systems, professional lighting rigs, and audio equipment during one-off shoots and larger productions.
- Capture "native" vertical and horizontal video and photography specifically optimized for TikTok, Reels, and Meta ads.
- Take real-time technical direction from the Production Manager and Social Media Manager to ensure all shots align with the established storyboard and brand aesthetic.
- Capture behind-the-scenes (BTS) content to support agency and client social media storytelling.
2. Post-Production & Editing
- Perform end-to-end editing for all captured assets, including culling, color grading, retouching, and sound design.
- Deliver polished, platform-ready video content (horizontal and vertical) and high-resolution photography.
- Incorporate basic motion graphics and text overlays as required by the creative brief.
- Manage a rigorous feedback loop, implementing revisions from the Production Manager and Creative teams efficiently.
3. Asset & Gear Management
- Maintain a highly organized file-naming and digital asset management system for all raw and final files.
- Oversee the maintenance and organization of Blacklight gear, ensuring all equipment is prepped, cleaned, and functional for every shoot.
- Assist in the setup and teardown of sets, lighting, and grip equipment.
4. Team Collaboration
- Partner with the Social Media and Account Management teams to identify and execute trending content formats with a fast turnaround.
- Attend pre-production meetings to understand project goals, technical requirements, and visual style guides.
- Provide technical insight during the conceptual phase to help the Creative team understand what is achievable within the project scope.
Required Technical Skills
- Software: Expert proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, Lightroom, and Photoshop. Familiarity with After Effects.
- Hardware: Advanced knowledge of professional camera systems (Sony, Canon, or similar), lighting (continuous and strobe), and audio capture.
- Social Fluency: Deep understanding of platform-specific requirements for Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
Key Requirements
- Experience: 1+ years of professional experience in a similar photo/video role.
- Portfolio: A diverse portfolio demonstrating proficiency in both photography and videography.
- Flexibility: Ability to adapt to changing creative directions on set and manage multiple project deadlines simultaneously.
