Bright Line Investigations LLC is actively hiring Field Investigators / Private Detective Interns to join our growing investigative team.
This is a Wisconsin-based field position requiring extensive travel throughout Wisconsin and neighboring states. Bright Line Investigations is a multi-state licensed investigative agency, and our investigators regularly travel across state lines on assignments. If you enjoy working independently, solving problems, and no two days being the same, this may be the career for you.
Job Responsibilities
Assignments may include:
- Insurance surveillance
- Criminal defense investigations
- Witness interviews
- Process service
- Open-source intelligence (OSINT)
- Background investigations
- Skip tracing / locating individuals
- Photographing and documenting evidence
- Preparing detailed investigative reports
- Uploading video, photographs, and evidence
- Maintaining communication with management throughout assignments
Position Requirements
Applicants must:
- Reside in Wisconsin.
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Possess a valid driver's license.
- Have reliable transportation.
- Be willing to travel extensively throughout Wisconsin and surrounding states.
- Be comfortable driving several hours for assignments.
- Be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Be organized, dependable, and detail-oriented.
- Maintain professionalism when interacting with clients, attorneys, witnesses, law enforcement, and the public.
- Maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
Important Expectations
This position requires:
- A LOT of travel.
- Frequent overnight travel when assignments require it.
- Working independently in the field.
- Excellent communication throughout the workday.
- Prompt responses to calls, texts, and emails.
- Time-sensitive assignment acceptance.
- Professional report writing.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Accountability and reliability.
- Strict adherence to Bright Line Investigations' Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and company policies.
This is not a traditional office position. Every day is different, and assignments often change quickly. Flexibility is essential.

Training & Licensing
Bright Line Investigations assists qualified employees through obtaining their Wisconsin Private Detective License through the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS).
As our agency continues to expand, investigators may also have opportunities to obtain private detective licenses in additional states.
