Office Operations Intern
Purpose of the Role
The Office Operations Intern supports the Operations Team with day-to-day administrative and operational functions across the organization. This role helps maintain smooth office operations, effective internal coordination, and positive office experience for staff and visitors.
The Office Operations Intern will gain hands-on experience with administrative processes, office logistics, vendor coordination, and organizational support in a fast-paced nonprofit environment. This supervised learning role will assist with assigned operational and administrative tasks under the guidance of the Senior Office Manager and Operations Team.
This internship is ideal for a student interested in working in the nonprofit sector who wants to learn how a mission-driven organization runs behind the scenes. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, adaptable, and collaborative, with related experience through coursework, student leadership, or previous internships. Proficiency in Office 365 is required.
Core Responsibilities
- Assist with day-to-day office and administrative tasks as assigned, including supply tracking, inventory support, workspace upkeep, and general administrative support.
- Help maintain accurate records and update internal systems, shared files, and operational documents.
- Support meetings and project logistics by helping coordinate schedules, prepare materials, take notes, and follow up on assigned tasks.
- Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes by helping track documentation, schedule meetings, and coordinate access, equipment, and team logistics.
- Provide administrative support for leadership, board, or special projects as assigned and under supervision.
- Contribute to special projects and process improvement efforts by supporting research, tracking action items, and completing follow-up tasks.
- Support a positive and well-functioning office environment by following internal policies, procedures, and team guidance.
Qualifications
- Actively enrolled as a student in a relevant field (Business Administration, Human Resources, Public Administration, Organizational Management, International Relations) during the internship period.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Comfort handling logistical and administrative tasks with consistency and care.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Able to learn quickly and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Related experience through coursework, student leadership, or previous internships is a plus.
- Must be able to successfully complete a background check.

Work Environment:
- Hybrid work options: Required in-office days on Mondays and Wednesdays, with the ability to work remotely on other days
- Occasional need to come into the office outside of traditional in-office days
- Office location: Washington, DC
- Global Ties U.S. operate on Windows OS (Windows 10+). Interns are required to use their own Windows-compatible devices for both in-office and remote work
