Probation Officer
A Probation Officer will counsel and/or supervise a caseload of probationers, attempting to successfully reintegrate them into the community. A Probation Officer will assist the courts with enforcing the court’s policies and procedures. Duties vary according to the specific assignments of the individual Probation Officer.
Qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree in Social or Behavioral Sciences, Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, or another related field (required), A valid driver’s license, and the ability to complete 40 hours of in-service training per year, which may include Pressure Control Tactics certification and firearms certification.
A candidate must demonstrate emotional stability and the ability to cope with the physical and mental stress of the position. They must be must be attentive to detail and be able to physically and mentally react quickly in the event of a disturbance or physical outbreak.
