ABOUT THE ROLE

The week before The Block Party is controlled chaos — in the best possible way. Streets need to be marked, materials need to be picked up, signs need to go up, and about a hundred small things need to happen in the right order. And then September 11th arrives and 15,000 people show up.

This intern handles the operational work that makes the event physically happen. You'll work closely alongside the ED, who has been building this event for seven years — you won't be figuring things out alone, but you will need to move fast, think on your feet, and be someone people can count on when the pressure is on. It's a demanding, high-energy role — and one of the most vivid internship experiences we offer.

WHAT YOU'LL DO — EVENT WEEK (SEPT 1–10)

  • Assist with pickup and delivery of event materials (supplies, signage, equipment)
  • Help mark streets and set up event infrastructure in coordination with city staff and vendors
  • Serve as a logistics runner — getting things to the right place at the right time
  • Set up sponsor activation areas and assist with signage installation
  • Support vendor and sponsor check-in processes

WHAT YOU'LL DO — EVENT DAY (SEPTEMBER 11)

  • Assist with on-site logistics, troubleshooting, and setup throughout the day
  • Capture behind-the-scenes photo and short-form video content as time allows
  • Support vendor and sponsor activations on the ground
  • Be a reliable, resourceful presence from load-in to close

WHAT YOU'LL GAIN

  • Hands-on large-scale event operations experience — the real thing, not a simulation
  • Direct exposure to event logistics, vendor coordination, and city partnerships
  • Experience working in a fast-moving, collaborative event environment
  • Behind-the-scenes photo and video content for your portfolio

YOU'RE A GOOD FIT IF YOU...

  • Thrive in high-energy, fast-moving environments and don't rattle easily
  • Can think on your feet — not every problem comes with instructions
  • Are physically up for a long, active day on your feet
  • Have a smartphone capable of shooting quality video, or access to a camera
  • Have a genuine curiosity about people and aren't shy about walking up to strangers

MUST BE AVAILABLE

  • Brief onboarding with the ED beginning July 7
  • Full week of September 1–10 for pre-event operations (hours vary by day)
  • Event day September 11, 2026 — full day and evening, non-negotiable
