Operations and Outreach Coordinator

The Small Business Advocacy Council is a non-partisan, member-driven organization that promotes the success of small businesses through political advocacy, support services, and educational programs. We seek an Operations and Outreach Coordinator to work with our team of professionals committed to supporting and advocating for the small business community.

The right team member will:

  • Be a recent graduate in business, communications, public policy, or a related field.
  • Possess strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple projects at once
  • Be a professional and friendly communicator, both in-person and over email
  • Be interested in networking and promoting the SBAC in a public setting
  • Be comfortable working independently and meeting deadlines in a hybrid environment
  • Be passionate about advocating for the interests of small businesses
  • Comfort with the Microsoft Suite
  • Preferred (but not required) qualifications include:
    • Previous experience using HubSpot, WordPress, and Canva
    • Previous experience with meeting and event coordination
    • An interest in being featured in social media content

In this position, your bread and butter will be helping us with meeting and event coordination. This will involve

  • Reaching out to legislators to set up meetings related to our advocacy agenda
  • Coordinating with legislators and local chambers of commerce to schedule legislative forums
  • Managing the calendar for the SBAC’s President
  • Coordinating meetings between mentors and prospective entrepreneurs and promoting these relationships on social media
  • Calling, emailing, and meeting in person with event venues
  • Coordinating event logistics and outreach
  • Connecting with potential event attendees and sponsors
  • Welcoming new members to the organization
  • Representing the SBAC at networking events
  • Contributing to the overall operations strategy of a small nonprofit (5 FTEs)

This is a full-time position. The typical week will look like a 9-5x5, with an average of four in-person days and one remote day. Sporadic after-hours attendance at events will be required, but weekend work is not. 

We are looking to fill this role immediately. Ideal candidates will be available to start as soon as possible.
