EHS Intern
Omni Specialty Packaging, located in Shreveport, Louisiana, is seeking a motivated Summer Intern to support a key Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) initiative.
This internship will provide valuable hands-on experience with software solutions utilized within the manufacturing industry while contributing to the enhancement of Omni’s chemical inventory management program. The selected candidate will work closely with the Regulatory Compliance Manager and Safety & Environmental Specialist to assist with the migration to a new chemical management platform.
This role offers the opportunity to collaborate across multiple departments, develop project management and technical skills, and serve as an advocate for process improvement and organizational change.
Preferred Academic Background
Current college student (typically sophomore through senior standing) pursuing a degree in:
- Chemistry
- Chemical Engineering
- Environmental Science
- Industrial or Process Engineering
- Occupational Safety or related EHS field
Technical Knowledge
- Understanding of basic chemistry concepts
- Knowledge of chemical hazards, including flammability, toxicity, and reactivity
- Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, OSHA Hazard Communication requirements
- Basic understanding of inventory tracking, databases, and Microsoft Excel
Required Skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Accountability and ownership of assigned work
- Data entry and Excel proficiency
- Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
Helpful but Not Required
- Laboratory assistant or data analysis experience
- Familiarity with EPA and state environmental regulations
- Basic understanding of lubricant blending processes
- Awareness of bulk storage and material handling practices
