Senior Financial Data Analyst

JOB TITLE: Senior Financial Data Analyst (2 Positions)
PROGRAM: Expert Professional Operation Support Services for Engineering Financial Services (2025–2029)
LOCATION: Remote
ANTICIPATED START DATE: July 1, 2026
DURATION: 1 Year

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Support the Budget Team within the Engineering Financial Services (EFS) Unit of the Engineering Department’s Operations Division
  • Responsible for financial analysis, budgeting, reporting, and data validation for departmental operations, capital, and overhead-funded programs

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyze monthly financial performance of departmental budgets and operations
  • Assist in preparation of annual budgets for Capital, Operating, and overhead-funded programs
  • Prepare and coordinate monthly consultant accruals by verifying Purchase Order documentation
  • Review month-end financial postings for accuracy and identify variances
  • Prepare and submit charge code reclassifications and adjustments
  • Develop ad hoc financial and project-based reports as required
  • Monitor and validate adherence to charge code guidelines for construction and consultant expenditures
  • Track deferred projects and prepare amortization schedules
  • Reconcile financial data across multiple systems and datasets

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in financial analysis, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting in a large organization
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (SharePoint, Lists, etc.)
  • Advanced Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, Macros, and VBA
  • Hands-on experience with financial systems such as SAP, PeopleSoft, Oracle Essbase, and Hyperion SmartView
  • Strong ability to analyze and reconcile large financial datasets
  • Knowledge of GASB accounting standards and principles
  • High attention to detail with ability to detect errors and inconsistencies
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage tasks efficiently
  • Strong team collaboration skills
