Marketing and PR Agency Account Coordinator

Salary: $45,000-$55,000, commensurate with experience

Location: Northeast Ohio preferred; remote, hybrid or in-office options available

Status: Full-time

Experience: 1-4 years preferred

Roopco is seeking a polished, highly organized and detail-oriented Account Coordinator to support client communications programs, content development, project coordination, corporate communications workflows and agency growth initiatives.

This is an early-career role for an ambitious communications professional who wants to grow within a strategic marketing and public relations agency. The ideal candidate is energized by a mix of writing, research, client service, project management and deadline-driven execution. They are comfortable handling detailed recurring tasks, asking thoughtful questions, following processes carefully and supporting senior team members across a variety of clients and industries.

Key Responsibilities

Client Communications Support

  • Support the execution of client communications programs, campaigns and projects.
  • Maintain project timelines, task lists, editorial calendars and approval checklists.
  • Prepare meeting agendas, take thorough meeting notes and distribute clear recaps with action items.
  • Coordinate scheduling, deadlines, client follow-ups and internal project details.
  • Communicate professionally and responsively with clients, vendors, media contacts and team members.
  • Help ensure client deliverables are accurate, on time and aligned with expectations.

Content and Communications Development

  • Draft and edit blog posts, social media content, newsletters, media materials, website copy and other communications.
  • Proofread and edit copy for grammar, punctuation, AP style, clarity, accuracy and brand voice.
  • Translate research and subject-matter input into clear, useful first drafts for review by senior team members.
  • Assist with formatting, proofreading and distribution of news releases and other time-sensitive communications.
  • Support website content updates and posting of approved materials.

Media Relations and Research

  • Research client industries, competitors, audiences, trends and media opportunities.
  • Build and update media and distribution lists.
  • Assist with media monitoring and results tracking.
  • Support development of pitches, press materials and story ideas.
  • Help identify relevant media opportunities, editorial calendars, awards and speaking opportunities.

Agency Marketing and New Business Support

  • Support new business research, prospecting and planning.
  • Research companies, industries, decision-makers and potential referral sources.
  • Help prepare background materials for new business meetings and proposals.
  • Assist with Roopco marketing, social media, thought leadership and agency visibility efforts.
  • Participate in brainstorms and contribute ideas for client growth and agency development.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, journalism, communications or a related field.
  • 1-4 years of relevant experience; agency, corporate communications, journalism, marketing or internship experience is helpful.
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading and research skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines.
  • Professional and responsive communication skills.
  • Ability to take clear meeting notes and translate discussions into action items.
  • Comfort working in a remote or hybrid team environment.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with AP style.
  • Experience with social media, content management systems, media databases, marketing automation platforms, email marketing tools or analytics platforms.
  • Comfort using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot or similar platforms responsibly to enhance research, writing, organization and efficiency.
