School Food Service Pre-Apprentice
Chef Ann Foundation's California Healthy School Food Pathway Pre-Apprenticeship provides experience and professional development for a career in healthy, scratch-cooked school food. The Pre-Apprenticeship program was designed for California residents who have some to no experience in school food or scratch cooking but are curious about improving the quality of meals being prepared in school kitchens.
See the program syllabus and job description attached.
The program has two phases combining expert-led online learning with on-the-job training. More than 90 K-12 school districts across California are registered Pre-Apprenticeship host sites. Check here for our most up-to-date district list as we recruit district partners throughout the year.
We offer the pre-apprenticeship program twice a year, in spring and fall. Apply by September 9th for the fall cohort using the link provided below or by visiting our website.
