Location: Dallas Metal Fabricators & Maintenance, Inc.
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM | Up to 30 Hours Per Week
Compensation: $12.00 per hour
About the Internship
Dallas Metal Fabricators & Maintenance is a fourth-generation architectural metal fabrication company specializing in fabrication, finishing, and installation services. This internship provides hands-on experience in metal fabrication, welding processes, and shop operations while exposing students to skilled trades careers within the construction and manufacturing industries.
Responsibilities
- Assist with material preparation, layout, and fit-up of metal components
- Support cutting, grinding, deburring, and finishing operations
- Assist with assembly and fabrication of architectural metal products
- Observe and support MIG and TIG welding activities under supervision
- Assist with operating shop equipment and tools following safety procedures
- Read and interpret shop drawings and fabrication details
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
- Support quality control efforts by checking dimensions and workmanship

Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a college, technical program, or workforce development program
- Interest in welding, fabrication, manufacturing, construction, or skilled trades

- Ability to follow instructions and work safely around tools and equipment
- Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented
Work Environment
This internship takes place in an active fabrication shop environment. Interns will work around metal materials, fabrication equipment, welding operations, and industrial tools. Safety training and supervision will be provided. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy building, creating, and seeing tangible results from their work.
