The Miami-Dade LGBTQ+ & Allied Chamber of Commerce (MDGLCC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing LGBTQ+ and allied businesses through advocacy, education, and economic development initiatives. We have been in business for over 26 years and are the bridge of economic empowerment for Miami Dade county.
Position Overview
The Social Media Intern will support MDGLCC’s digital presence by scheduling, and managing content across social media platforms. This role is ideal for a University of Miami student interested in marketing, communications, nonprofit work, or LGBTQ+ advocacy.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in planning and executing a social media content calendar
Create engaging content (graphics, captions, short-form video) for platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn
Schedule and publish posts using social media management tools
Monitor comments, messages, and engagement, and redirecting to MDGLCC leadership team for follow up, if needed
Track performance metrics (reach, engagement, follower growth) and provide insights
Support promotion of events, programs, and member businesses
Ensure content aligns with MDGLCC’s mission, voice, and brand guidelines
Stay up-to-date with social media trends and recommend new ideas
Qualifications
Current student at the University of Miami (Marketing, Communications, PR, Business, or related field preferred)
Strong written communication skills and attention to detail
Familiarity with major social media platforms
Basic graphic design skills (e.g., Canva, Adobe Express)
Organized, reliable, and able to meet deadlines
Interest in LGBTQ+ advocacy and community engagement
Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)
Experience with social media analytics tools
Photography or video editing skills
Experience managing a brand or organization’s social media account
Learning Outcomes
Hands-on experience managing a nonprofit brand’s digital presence
Portfolio-building content creation work
Exposure to community-based marketing and event promotion
Networking opportunities within Miami’s business and LGBTQ+ communities
Salary
$20-$22/hour
